The Secret Is Out

So the secret is out…

Well it’s actually not that big of a secret, but still, it’s worth sharing. Although this editorial may seem a bit extravagant, I’d like to give you a bit of a “behind the scenes” look. To be honest, this shoot was so so much fun. The old winding staircase, the rows and rows of books, and the amazing stained glass mural, in my opinion, made for such regal images. But in all reality, this building apparently used to be an old butcher shop. Ya, classy, right?

But thankfully I did not go take pictures in a butcher shop… that would just be psychotic… it’s actually an old antique store now. Well, its technically multiple shops all connected together and you could seriously get lost down all of the winding and twisting turns. Not to mention, I’ve heard it’s haunted because of all of the creepy antiques that are in there, but that’s beside the point.

Now, as for the gown… which I seriously am in love with and wish it was socially acceptable to wear more often, is my next secret. So… this dress was only $12. Yup, TWELVE DOLLARS. Where on earth did I get this fabulously affordable gown? Well, a dream is a wish your heart makes. And Wish made my dreams come true.

Okay, well maybe it didn’t make my dreams come true, but it definitely made my vision come true for this editorial. Wish is a super inexpensive website, the quality isn’t pristine and shipping kind of takes awhile since its all overseas, but I have never been disappointed with any of the products I have ordered! I seriously recommend giving it a try, but still… keep it on the hush hush. I can’t have everyone knowing all my secrets.

And now for my third and final secret… I totally biffed it down the stairs when Ike wasn’t looking. Hahahahaha. It really hurt and Ike still doesn’t even know that it happened cause I totally acted like I was fine. I’m good… its cool, just have a giant bruise on my shin now. But I’m good ;)

P.S. If you'd like to enlarge a picture for you phone viewers out there, then just give it a tap.

The Vantage Series - Pt. 3

I have been waiting to share this shoot for a long time now! This trip as a whole was so much fun; the pictures were just a bonus. If you ever find yourself driving all the way out to the desert in the middle of nowhere (past Cle Elum), I really do recommend stopping at Vantage just to enjoy the view for awhile. This shoot was probably my favorite just because of the atmosphere. The wind, the scenery, everything was so perfect. Plus it gave me an excuse to rock my super crazy boho Billabong pants. Yes, those are pants with giant slits on the sides and they are quite comfortable. As for my amazing fringe vest... thriiiiiift. Thrifting is the answer, my friends. It's real suede and authentic, like straight out of the 70's, I swear. Sometimes you just have to let your inner "hypsy", (mixture between a gypsy and a hippie) come out.

Now, as for the news I said I would be sharing this week, I'm leaving for TEXAS on Friday! Woohoooo, I am so excited to join my amazing blog photographers, Ike & Tash, along with several other girlies to their conference, BLINK. I had thought about doing a blog post on packing techniques and giving out some good tips, but then I realized I actually suck at packing. I can never decide what to bring, so I just end up bringing everything I can squeeze in my bag, granted I do leave a little bit of room for what I bring back with me cause ya know, a girl's gotta shop, but that's beside the point. The point is, I overpack! But hey, I rather be over prepared than under prepared. So wish me luck with packing and stay tuned on the blog AND Instagram for some BLINK Conference updates.

xoxo

The Vantage Series - Pt. 2

I bet you're all wondering what Vantage even is. Well, as Google puts it, "Vantage is a census-designated place in Kittitas County, Washington" with a whopping population of 70. So pretty much its the middle of no where. BUT, the long drive out there is totally worth it. It's so gorgeous; the view, the hills, the water, and of course the impeccable sunset we were able to witness. What on earth could go wrong! Right? Ha ya no, life doesn't work like that. We almost got stuck in the desert, in the middle of no where. Like, this is where murderers dump the dead bodies people! I watch Criminal Minds way too much for this sort of thing. So what happened exactly? Well, as we set out to make the 2 hour journey home, before we could get too far, one of the car engines overheated. We ended up waiting a couple hours for the tow truck, then got a call saying no tow truck was coming. We sat on the side of the road for a good hour, finally decided to pull off to a creepy gas station cause we all were starving, had a nice little picnic in the car just to be told our AAA hero would not be coming to the rescue. So, we were gonna have to cram into the remaining two cars. In the end, it actually ended up being a lot of fun, getting to know each other better and creating long lasting memories. The one down side was that I had to drive for 2 hours trying not to fall asleep because I knew I had my precious cargo to take care of. To be honest, I may have fallen asleep a few times... but we all survived!

So there’s a little snip bit of the Vantage trip! Flash forward to life in the now, and it is crazy busy! I shot a wedding this weekend, worked on editing photos I took for a baby announcement and this Friday I will have another shoot, which I’m extremely excited for. The concept is great and it’s with a dear friend. But aside from the crazy busy life, I still will make this blog a priority! (I’m actually sitting at the hair salon waiting to get my roots touched up as I type all of this now). So let me tell you a bit about this dress right here. It was one of those lucky finds shopping around Fremont District in Seattle one day. There’s this little modern boutique that I totally fell in love with, Pipe + Row. If you’re ever in the area, I really do suggest you go take a peek, even if it’s just some window shopping.

Well, I hope you all enjoy this little editorial, and will tune in next week for The Vantage Series - Pt. 3, where I will be sharing some very exciting news… winky face…
